Welcome readers! This is the website of Christopher Fosdick, a learning junkie, vocational rehabilitation counselor, and aspiring instructional designer. I’ve worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and as a trainer since 2006. I helped clients overcome disability, self-imposed limitations, and environmental barriers. I’ve coached more 1,000 adults, high school students, and college students towards meaningful and life-changing educational goals. I completed a Master’s Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2010. I have provided counseling and guidance in-person and online since then. Throughout my counseling and training career, I worked with a variety of organizations including high schools, universities, businesses, and government agencies.
I discovered a passion for instructional design and learning technology while working as a trainer on a five-year research study funded by the Department of Education called ASPIRE. I trained across six states directly under ASPIRE’s project director. I developed a curriculum and provided training and presentations on a wide range of topics. Some of these subjects included communication, conflict resolution, data entry, and database navigation. I’ve provided hundreds of hours of in-person and online training, one-on-one and in group settings. I also developed a knack for creating simple, but highly effective training modules.
In 2020, I attained a Certificate in Instructional Design and Technology from Walden University. Although I currently work full-time for the federal government as a counselor, I still enjoy doing freelance work creating informational videos, training modules, learning experiences, and writing articles on learning or any topic that interests me.
